Not that I'm saying that he *isn't*, necessarily -I mean, in all
fairness, we can't really expect Harry to notice these things and we
*are* limited to his POV - but I do believe it to be important that
we differentiate between what-is-canon and what-we-want. Of course,
on this, I am a major hypocrite, I'm sure...*sigh*.

Actually the "dead sexy" aspect of Sirius' character has not been
expressed in canon, but was expressed by JKR. This wasn't in an
interview, but at a book signing one of the listees went to when GoF
was first released. I know the story by the listee herself (cannot
remember her name at the moment...if you are still here...speak up)
is in our archive somewhere, but will summarize here.
Listee was at King's Cross Book Signing and had a moment when JKR's
attention was focused her way. She called out to JKR.."Is Sirius
supposed to be dead sexy?" JKR seemed surprised at the question,
smiled and said "Yes."
So in this case it's not a matter of what-we-want, although it isn't
truely official canon either.

Who always thought it was the height of unselfishness that Sirius
would prefer to live in a cave and eat rats to be near his godson
rather than lounging on a beach somewhere sipping mai tais.
