Sirius would view Lupin's Edge as evidence of Lupin's
understated manner, his inability to connect emotionally. Sirius
would think that Lupin just needs a good, stiff drink and ought to
loosen up and live a little. Sirius wouldn't start to suspect Lupin,
I don't think, based on Lupin's Edge.

ROTFL! Dang, if everyone starts agreeing with me, it will take all
the fun out of this group ;-) Supposing I am right and Lupin's
betrayals are prompted by his unconscious resentment of
authority. It's possible that after Hogwarts this feeling got
transferred to Sirius and James, whom McGonagall calls the
ringleaders of their little gang. That might result in unreliable
behavior. Say Lupin agrees to babysit little Harry and "forgets" to
show up. That'd get on any parent's nerves, plus they'd be
wondering where dear Remus *did* get to.
In addition, if Remus was in the closet with his lycanthropy, his
friends might have feared he could be blackmailed. Plus it is part
of my Sirius=Wormtail theory that Pettigrew was indeed feeding
misinformation to the Inner Circle in the hope of misleading
Dumbledore's spies.
