Actually, we don't know that he was taken to Azkaan in 81. As the Potters were killed within hours of the start of November, it's more likely that the hearing was in 82. I would argue that his birthday could've been any time in 61 or 62 or even as late as 63. But most likely 62.

Sirius says in GoF that Crouch jr was 19 when he was taken to Azkaban
in 1981.  19 from 1981 is 1962.
