Hmm, I think my memory might be failing me. Has Voldemort ever
killed his own for tempermental reasons? I can't seem to remember
that happening. Left 'em high and dry, sure (Quirrell comes to
mind), but not offed them.  In fact, he seems wisely forgiving;
cruel, but not lethal, to his followers.

And I don't really see him killing Lucius except for a very, very,
VERY good reason. If Voldemort killed him in a tempermental fit, it
would bring to mind bad fictional villains who kill off their
followers for no good reason, by which making me think, dude, you're
killing the people you depend on *for no good reason!* The Idiot
Villain, lol. Voldemort doesn't strike me as an Idiot Villain.

So if Lucius was to die, I think it's more likely to be at the hands
of one of the good guys.

But you know, regardless, I don't think Draco would change for the
better. He'd suddenly be the man of his family, and the heir to the
Malfoy legacy both in terms of money and of morality and power (or
delusions thereof). Imho, he'd become an even bigger fiend.
