On my twentyith rereading og GoF I had an idea about Cornelius Fudge.

My belief is of a slightly darker Fudge, resembling GW Bush rather
than Chamberlain. (My apologies to Republicans)
I agree with the majority that Fudge is none too bright, but think he
must be a deal maker of some ability to rise to Minister of Magic.

Consider why Fudge was so quick to administer the Dementor's Kiss.
Would he do this if he unknowingly working for LV? I think that's a
stretch.
I believe Fudge gained the MoM by dealmaking (ala GW Bush) but that
wouldn't be enough to outmaneuver Crouch. I'm guessing he 'fudged'
somewhere to get Barty Sr. out of the way. Barty Jr. may have known
something, but was thought dead and gone. Minister Fudge is told the
Barty Jr is alive and guilty of murder and IMHO rushed there with a
Dementor to silence him, not to protect LV, but himself.
