<<<Hi everyone!
I have to say that I have a huge problem accepting all the Heir of
Gryffindor theories that are posted on the site because I find that
they contradict Dumbledore's speach about that it is our choices that
are important and that they define what we are, not to which family
we are born or what blood flows in our veins (he says something like
this to Fudge in the hospital wing in GoF, but i do not know the
excact wording since I do not have the books with me>>> (snip)

I have thought this way myself, but I have a different spin on it. I have speculated that Harry is related to both SSlytherin and GGryffindor.
Harry has so much GG symbolism surrounding him: the wand that chooses him sparks out red and gold, parents lived in Godric's Hollow, sorting hat gives him GG's sword and Fawkes (who is has red and gold plumage). And, his mother had RED hair...
OTOH, he also has SS symbols as well: hat has hard time choosing between Gryf. and Slyth. in PS/SS, hat tells him he would have done well in Slytherin in COS, his disregard for rules, speaking Parseltongue, and those GREEN eyes, the same eyes as his mother's.
If this "combined descendent" is the case, then it makes sense for Dumbledore to tell Harry that it is his choices that show what he truly is, not just his abilities. Dumbledore, imo, has kept the combo info from Harry because he can't handle the truth...not just yet. He told him that bits of Voldie stayed with him from the AK to make him feel better about what the hat told him, and to influence him to make "right" choices (kind of goes along with the MAGIC DISHWASHER theory, if I understand it correctly...).
If he is a combination of the two founders, that would make Harry more powerful than even Dumbledore, who I believe is Gryffindor's heir (all that GG stuff in his office, etc.). And, imo, that's why V. is after Harry. I'm speculating that a prophecy says something about when you add GG+SS=SUPER WIZARD! And V's big ego won't let there be a greater wizard then him around. Instead of a prophecy, maybe V. has a magic mirror... "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the most powerful wizard of all?" "Well, it was you, but see, there's this baby that lives in Godric's Hollow..."
I'm all for the Heir of Gryffindor until I remember what D. said about choices and those green eyes. Lily's eyes are going to be significant in the books to come, we are told by JKR. But for now, me and my weird theories will be reading what everyone else has to say about this. What fun!

(who's husband's theory is that Harry will be the youngest Headmaster at Hogwarts. AS IF!! After he defeats Voldie, he's gonna play professional quidditch, bringing the Chudley Cannons out of their unbelievably looooooong loosing streak!)
