Well, what if his fear didn't begin until after he became a dark
wizard? Maybe, after becoming a dark wizard, after killing people left
and right, after wallowing in death, after realizing that there does
seem to be something after death, and it's probably full of people
hating his guts, he became afraid of death and wanted to live forever?
Here's another thought: If he is immortal, will he age? We all
remember the story of the greek woman who wished for eternal life, but
forgot to wish for eternal youth...
The Random Monkey, who wonders what would have happened if she had
wished for eternal youth but not eternal life... Left a beautiful
corpse, perhaps? That's not to say that beauty is defined by youth,
because Monkey hates all that Madison Avenue bull about how old lady
is at 40 and you must use alpha-hydroxy cream-of-the-week products
every day or else... Hey! Where are you going?! I'm not done!
