Okay, you got me there!  I didn't think about that.  Perhaps Ollivander is
one of the so called "old crowd" then?  Since he did run straight to
Dumbledore with that information.  So Dumbledore could perhaps think then
that Harry would have an additional protection against Voldemort, should the
original protection (from his mother) fail.  Or be overridden as is the
case.
