Now me:
The fact that Neville wasn't specifically named as another option was what got me thinking originally. Whoever labelled the prophecy in the first place recognised an existing ambiguity over the subject matter by including the "(?)". If Neville were the only plausible alternative to Harry why "(?) Harry Potter" and not "Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom"?
