Your post reminded me of an interview with JKR I read a while back. 
She said something to the fact that if you are familiar with the Christian religion and it's history you will figure out the story, or something like that. 
It's been quite a while since I've read a bible, but I remember that Pharaoh ordered all newborn males killed when Moses was born. Moses' mother sent him upriver in a basket/boat and he was raised by Pharaoh's sister. I can't remember all of the details of this story. I should be able to remember this because my parents watched the story of Moses on TV every year during my childhood. LOL!
