Oh, yes! <g>

I've been thinking this for a while, but haven't been able
to voice it as clearly as you did.

For some reason Hermione seems to have turned into an almost
perfect goddess in HP fandom.
She can do no wrong and is loved by all the males around
her.

Nobody can measure up to her (well, maybe Harry and he'd
better start noticing her if he knows what's good for him!).

But that's not really Hermione, it's an almost
unrecognizable fanon character.

She has plenty of rough edges, that somehow get completely
overlooked.

Is it because many females identify with her completely?
What about the males of the fandom? Do most of them love
her without reservations?
