<<As I'm re-reading GoF, I've come to a halt. How can Wizards,
particularly the DEs, tell who is a Muggle? It can't be because they
wear Muggle clothing because the Weasley kids wear Muggle clothes.
The only thing that can give a Muggle away is if they speak to
someone and show them their lack of knowledge about the WW. Unless
you're Hermione. :-D
So does anyone know the answer? Has this been talked about before?>>
My opinion:
I think that wizards have some sort of sixth sense that they can tell
if someone is a Muggle or a wizard.
I think that this sixth sense can also be witnessed in the Shrieking
Shack scene, when Lupin returns the wands to the kids. It is probable
that he is familiar with what their wands look like, having seen the
kids use them all year long, but it's also possible that he sensed
which wand belongs to which kid.

<<Also, for all we know you need to be able to see an object you're
casting a charm on.>>
My opinion:
We know that seeing the object on which a spell is cast isn't
necessary. In GoF, in the first task, Harry accio's his Firebolt
without seeing the thing. But if the person *isn't* looking at the
object which he is casting a spell on, then he should have a vivid
image of it in his mind, he should be focusing on that thing, be
familiar with what it looks like, where it is exactly, etc.
