I had a problem with Ron continuing to believe that all giants "just
like killing" even after he has known Hagrid for 3+ years and has met
Madame Maxime, a rather graceful and proper half-giantess.
I would also use Ron's lack of sympathy for the plight of the house
elves as an example of his tendency to stereotype, but I know people
will jump all over me for that. I just think Ron tends to believe
what he has heard before thinking things through. Really, though, how
many of us at fourteen had Hermione's open-mindedness? As liberal as
I know I am, I am sure there were plenty of stereotypes I believed
until proven otherwise.

I don't know; I thought his comment about Krum only asking Hermione to
the Ball to get information about Harry was pretty mean, but you're
right - I don't know if I'd put that in the cruel category. Ron
definitely has a big mouth and doesn't always know when to keep it
shut. He is often driven by his emotions, not logic. This is where I
see big trouble for him coming.
