Oh, you know you are right!  By the end of GoF, her confidence (in 
regards to guys, at least) has disappeared because she did something 
she's never done before, according to Harry, and that was to give 
him a kiss.  That was VERY unexpected on my behalf, even if he just 
had an encounter with Voldemort. Hermione always seemed distant.
