I don't know - I think I may disagree with your statement.  By the 
end of OOTP Draco says nothing to Harry after his father was landed 
in Azkaban.  I didn't interpret this as speechless anger on my first 
read, but rather, just a lack of anything to say.  Perhaps this is 
the first sign of Draco's 180 back towards being good?  Normally I 
think Malfoy would try and fight with Harry as he has done so many 
times in the past (Usually resulting in his being turned into a furry 
white rodent or being bloodied...)
