I was under the impression the prophecy came down when Neville and
Harry were already in the oven, so to speak.

But say that isn't the case. There is a flaw in logic here, it seems.
How did James and Lily KNOW they were the ones to were going to have
the kid in the prophecy? Why not Lily and Sirius? Or James and some
other girl? Why not two completely different people altogether?

So, how did James and Lily KNOW they were going to have to get
married?

I continue to be baffled by the idea that, because James and Lily are
no longer Saints, they are evil.

Just because you were an asshole at 15, doesn't make you an asshole
at 20. I've said it before, but I would HATE to be judged on my 15-
year-old self and I think most people, if they were honest, would say
the same.

And we also have to remember that Harry has NO memory of James and
has to rely on the admittedly rosy memories of everyone (but Snape.)
So, of course, any flaw is going to be a shock.

Had Harry spent 15 years with James, he'd probably know more than
he'd want to know about James' flaws.

Lily quite clearly was no saint. Were she a saint, she'd have taken
all of Snape's mudblood garbage and still defended him. But, she
seemed to figure, "Why do I need to put up with this racist's abuse?
Screw him" and left the idiot males to settle it amongst themselves,
figuring that if she was lucky, they'd maim each other.

Yet again, I find myself baffled by the continual apologies -- in
general, not specifically by any one person -- for Snape and Draco's
meanness, but the rush to turn one proven mean act by James into Evil!
James.
