This does seem the most likely scenario... however my question is 
this.  No matter how young, did not wee little HP wittness the death 
of his parents, or does it not count if you are not old enough to 
have remembered it?  To those that would say his parents died in 
another room or outside fighting LV, I say no.  It is NOT movie 
corruption, from the first time I read the books, I pictured Lilly 
dieing with Harry in her arms.  Later we learn she is casting a 
spell on him at this time to protect him, even further evidence he 
was probably in view.
