What I'm asking for here is opinions and any canon references anyone
can provide. The question headings are SQIBS, WANDS, HOGWARTS and
one AGE question. I have had a look at past messages especially
about the age question but haven't found anything dealing with this
specific person... So here goes.

Me -

OK well this is all opinion on my behalf since I don't have the books to
hand (except for OoP). If someone knows rougly where the reference to the
Minister for Magic is in OoP I can look it up but it's too big to find
something when you don't know where it is.

SQUIBS
1- Do Squibs get magical schooling?

Me -

I don't think so, but if they do it won't be at Hogwarts. I would imagine it
depends on their family - a squib with muggles fairly close in the family
tree might just go to a muggle school and become, in effect, a muggle.
Whereas one from a pureblood family would be less likely to I think. I can't
see Filch as being a product of the muggle school system personally.

2- To be a Squib must you have two magical parents?

Me -

I don't think we're ever told but I would say a squib is someone who could
be reasonably expected to be a witch/wizard but isn't so probably you'd only
need one magical parent.

3-Do Sqibs get wands? (ie Filch's Quick Spell Course is that all
non-wand magic?)

Me -

I doubt it. What would be the point. Without magic they couldn't use one
anyway. It'd just be an expensive stick. That's even supposing they could
find one that matched them what with Ollivander's whole wand coosing the
wizard philosophy.

4-And if they don't get wands how do they know they're a Squib?

Me -

Well Hagrid said that witches/wizards tend to perform magic before they
reach eleven and Neville's family were trying to shock him into performing
some so presumably that's a clue. Plus since the Hogwarts letters are sent
out by magic I would think not getting one would be a pretty hefty hint.

WANDS

5-When and why does a wizard get a new wand? (Ron has Charlie's OLD
wand)

Me -

Maybe because Charlie had decided to specialise in dragons he went back to
Ollivander and got one with something dragony in it. The wand I think tries
to match with something inside a witch or wizard and maybe that can change
as the person and their interests change. It would be interesting to see if
Harry ends up with a new wand after Voldemort is defeated and there is no
longer any advantage for him having the brother wand of Voldemort. There can
t be only one wand ever that atches a wizard or if you broke yours you'd be
majorly screwed.

7- Where did all DE's/ Sirius etc get wands in ootp?

Me -
I refuse to believe Ollivander is the only wandmaker in england. I would
imagine there is a slightly less reputable dealer in Knockturn Alley or
somewhere similar. As for Sirius it may be that he bought a second wand when
he graduated. Sirius obviously isn't short of money so maybe he celebrated
his graduation by buying a new wand and left his first one somewhere. Remus
could probably have fetched it for him. Alternatively to both above theories
maybe Ollivander has the same privacy policy as the Gringotts Goblins seem
to have and just doesn't bother the ministry with petty details like - I
just sold a wand to an escaped criminal.
