Was Potter indispensable to the business' success and without him it
failed after his murder? Did Potter graduate to creating more
important magical artifacts leaving the partnership? Did product
liability suits come up wiping the remaining owners out? >>>>>>>
One theory on why James and Lily had money is that it was once said that both James and Sirius were from old Wizarding families that had a lot of money and inherited it. Sirius however gave it up when he ran away from home and lived with the Potters. He only had what was in his vault at the time. Then he went to jail and when he escaped couldn't go shopping and spending his money as he pleased since he was in hiding. I didn't read anywhere that he didn't have money.
