I feel it in my toes too. There are just too many references to
vampires in the book, especially the one where Lupin assigns
homework on Vampires after he finds out that Snape assigned one on
Werewolves. Maybe he isn't Vampire or part Vampire, but some other
kind of Bat or part Bat. I can't believe that JKR would put so many
references to Vampires on all five books just to mislead us.

To me it would also explain how Snape manages to spy on Voldemort
and the DE's. I must say that I'm not following the threads that
focus on this particular subject. I can't figure out how to explain
the scenes with Snape and Quirrell/Voldemort in SS/PS, or if the DE
know Snape is a spy or in the Order of Phoenix, or if Snape went to
the graveyard in GoF, or his relationship with Lucius Malfoy. I
think this double spying stuff is too complicated and not so
difficult to discover.

I'm not saying that every time that Snape spies on Voldemort and
DE's he does it in Bat form (as he clearly was a DE, by the DE mark
on his arm), but maybe sometimes he does, and as he is good at
Occlumency, he can avoid detection.

I just think it's worth considering, I'm not totally convinced of it
myself.
