Is the spoiler tag still necessary?
I think the biggest factor in favor of the Thestrals
was the ability to take you to where you want to go
even if you yourself don't know the way. The kids know
it,s in london but I'm not sure they know how to
navigate there on a broom and the castle may be over
run with hitler youth ur um slytherins by now.

More important, the Threstrals being invisible to

than Broomsticks
(even ignoring that the others could not have kept up
