I also caught  the "Lupin" reference [but missed the Remus one -- 
thanks!]

There's also "Sirius" (the Dog Star) 

Quirrel (sp?), a phonetic meld of "quivering squirrel"

"Umbridge" (a pun on "Umbrage," of course") 

"Sprout" is pretty self-explanatory  

Someone has already pointed out an Alchemy connection to the 
name "Potter"  

"Pettigrew" -- "the pet that grew"?  [maybe a back-door pun/reference 
to "The Boy Who Lived"]  

To say nothing, obviously, of "Slytherin" ("slithering").

These are just a few that jump into my overtired mind right now;  I'm 
sure there are many others.

Shall we say, perhaps, that JKR has a Pynchon for colorful monickers!?
