I will not argue that JKR has described Snape as sadistic and cruel
[although I am wondering that since this quote by JKR does not
appear in any of the books, then does it exist?...that was more for
Darrin ;)]. However, the main point of the post was to give a
possible explanation as to why the "bucktooth incident" doesn't seem
to bother Hermione as much as we seem to think it should. Alot of
people has said things to the effect of Hermione let this incident
go because she trusts Snape because Dumbledore does. I was offering
another explanation of Hermione's reaction based on her attitudes
about learning and comparing it to my own attitudes as a student.
Nothing more, nothing less. I am pleased that it has generated a
good discussion on both sides, though.
Adam -- now is firmly convinced that the Snape discussions will
never go away and is proud to do his part in keeping them going.
