On the first read-through, I missed most of the foreshadowing, 
partly because I was reading so fast, and partly because I think I 
was subconsciously determined to miss it -- I just wasn't prepared 
to contemplate the possibility of Sirius being the one to die.  But 
now, rereading individual chapters, I'm seeing clues all over the 
place, right from the start, when Harry and the advance guard arrive 
at 12 Grimmauld Place, and Harry thinks it's like entering the house 
of a dying person.  I bet once I reread the whole thing through from 
the beginning, the narrative thread will become even clearer.
