The debaters so far:

Again, Moody wasn't a teacher. He was a Death Eater who had an entire
agenda that has to be considered in this.
1) He hated the DEs who got away and Draco is the son of a DE.
2) He wanted to make Harry and friends trust and like him.
3) He wanted to keep Harry safe until the end and having Draco nearly
get him probably infuriated Crouch Jr.
It just seems a little off-base to compare these incidents on a
strictly teaching and student-relation level, knowing what we now
know about Moody.
Now, if Snape's treatment of Hermione, and general treatment of
Neville, is revealed to be part of his own agenda -- such as
maintaining his "street cred" with the Slytherins -- then his actions
will of course have to be re-evaluated.
