Since when has JKR given straight-forward clues?  IMHO, there will 
almost certainly be a twist to the prophesy, and Dumbledore will 
make a comment about how prophesies can't be trusted or can be 
misinterpreted. <grin>

I thought of your 'it's a girl' theory too, but later it 
says "...and the Dark lord will mark him as equal, but he will have 
power the Dark Lord knows not ..."  So I guess that leaves out our 
female heros.
