Quote: I think he was described that way, though, to make him
unattractive to readers. Oh, I'm sure that would be the reason he
was written that way, but, as with most things, there's the authors
reasons for putting it in, and then there is the explanation for how
it fits in the universe.
I have been wondering why Snape's hair is so greasy. Greasy hair,
greasy guy? Was Snape kind of like Malfoy growing up? Yeah, Snape
sounds very unattractive and he sounds like he was a dork growing up
(you know, getting picked on and not having many friends). In
actuality, the hair and the know-it-all personality reminded me a lot
of Hermione. Who else do we know who has hair issues? But Hermione
doesn't care much for her appearance and that's good for her because
there are more important things. But we as the readers know that
Hermione is great despite that.
Snape seems to be the opposite, though (personality wise). He comes
off as being a jerk and a mean guy. OoP, Pensieve Scene, Snape is
going through all the test answers (minus the friends) and it just
reminded me so much of Hermione, except she actually friends to annoy
(hehe). Hermione is muggle born, but what about Snape? We don't know
for sure about his family, but I get the feeling he's half (either
parents or family).
Ok, I don't know where I'm going with this, but could Hermione be how
Snape would have turned out in another time and place? Hermione is
ambitious, clever, resourceful, not fully understood and well, she's
just special. IF Snape came from a similar background as Hermione,
was it his decisions that made him the way it is? (Yes). Snape has so
much emotional baggage with him and so much of this stuff might not
be his fault, but his fault lies with his responses to these things.
Is this purposeful or just fanciful?
