I can see Snape being in the lab for five to eight
hours a day, or at least around the ingredents enough
for them to settle. As mentioned in another post, the
summer scene in Snape's memories has him with greasy
hair. Now, I think that it may be a combination of
things, such as hygene and potions. Sometimes I do not
like to wash my hair regularly in the summer because
of the humidity in the air.
Also, your husband has someone to come home to. As far
as we know, Snape has no one. A big factor in hygene.
Snape probably uses spells to keep the dangerous
chemicals out of his system or purges them once and a
while. Magic is a wonder. (I think the cheese is
Rocatta and I agree about the no goggles thing. It's a
school with no protection!)
