Not so much a Theory but a statement:

Forgiving, Albus underestimates The Hatred Of Redeemed Severus!

See, he went into the Dark Arts  to expand his mind and make some 
cash. However, the only Dark Wizards available to him do to his 
status couldn't kill a fly if their life depended on it. Word is 
spreading around the Syltherin Common room that Voldemort is THE guy 
to go to, if you can prove yourself. Fast forward to the meeting 
between SS and DD. Severus is going to be one angry guy. On top of 
being bullied while at hogwarts and being the KING OF SPAIN he could 
pretty well be part of the group that's trying to save James and 
Family. Fast Forward to OotP and we can see just how much DD 
underestimated Snape's anger.
