Well, I don't know if that counts as a proof, but JKR said, that Ron
ressembled one of her eldest and biggest friends, and was partly even
created after that friend. I highly doubt she would make such a
character an evil traitor. IMO, Ron's jealousy and desire to proove
make him just human. Nobody is perfect. Also note, that Ron has no
problems expressing his anger to Harry in GOF. I don't think Peter
would have other words than praise and awe for James.
I thought several times, if there is really a traitor, and he already
appeared in the books, who it could be. I personally tend to think it
could be Colin Creevey, who IMO really resembles Pettigrew, while
Peter and Neville have IMO NOTHING in common (with the exception that
they are both not the brightest students). On the other hand, so many
people suspect Colin, that he is probably innocent.
