Who cowers in front of his monitor and sees the List Troll raising
their club, sees the List Elf raising their magical fingers, sees the
List Wizard pointing their wands threateningly, and see a Howler being
tie to an owl's leg, because about all I have to say is... I agree (I
now quickly duck behind my monitor).

Neville is just too far in the front of this story for him to be
insignificant in the end, but his role is so unclear. It could very
well be that in the end it is Neville who is the equal and who perhaps
dies defeating Voldemort.
As far as the 'Mark', I agree we don't necessarily know the Harry's
mark is THE mark. And we do not know that the mark is a physical mark,
it could be abstract or metaphorical.
In a sense, if Voldemort comments out loud that it is Neville he is
afraid of, then he has 'mark' Neville with his word, as in-
"Mark my words, the Neville Longbottom is nothing but trouble. If sure
he is the one I have to worry about."
Check out that other thread.
Just a thought.
