Liz:

Sorry in advance for this depressing thought, but . . .  JKR has said 
that wizards and witches live a lot longer than muggles.  If a witch, 
say MM for example, married a muggle then her muggle husband would 
unfortunately die long before she would.  Perhaps then she would come 
to Hogwarts to teach -- kids grown, hubby gone, so, why not?

Just a rather sad thought, but JKR has said that HP hasn't recognized 
the significance of the extra long life expectancy of Wizarding kind.
