As much as I love the 4 Marauders-4 Houses theory (it fits so
well !!), I must support you on that one. As I said a long long time
ago, I just can't see how the Marauders could have been such close
friends if they had been in different Houses. There are very few
inter-Houses relationships described in the books, and most of them
are romantic relationships (and we all know how far lovers can go to
see each other :-). The kids in different Houses live in different
parts of the castle, eat at different tables, rarely go to classes
together, etc... The only time left when they can actually get to
know each other are the various clubs, but there doesn't seem to be
that many people engaged in them, and we don't even know how many of
those clubs are inter-House. Remember, when the DA try setting up a
date for their meetings, their different timetables quickly clash.
Sounds like it would be very hard to establish a regular inter-House
club. And then Hermione has to resort to the magical Galleon trick in
order to avoid students from different Houses being seen talking to
each other too often, because it would look suspicious : really
doesn't sound like inter-House friendships are common !
