I'm still not convinced, because we never see them do anything close
to fighting. They practice the spells on each other like they do in
Charms lesson, period. No fights, no threats, no fear, no surprise,
no nothing. It's not even as good as the Duelling Club ! I mean, I
don't have the book with me, but I remember one time when we get a
description of what happens in the DA : people would jinx their
partner, then wait around until their partner got up and jinxed them
in turn. How exciting ! What kind of a combat training is that ? They
are not at all learning the "mentality of fight". Best proof of it
being, in my opinion, that when they learn Umbridge is coming for
them, NOT ONE OF THEM tries to fight !! Harry tells them to run and
they flee. But what are they afraid of ?? They know enough jinxes to
get rid of the Inquisitorial Squad and probably even of Umbridge
herself. It would be totally reckless, I know, and I'm not suggesting
they should have done it. But I'm saying that if they had truly
learned the mentality of fight, at least a couple of them would have
wanted to try that. But none did. They learned jinxes, not fighting.
