What did DD do after he was sacked ?

When DD leaves his office, he says he's not going to hide, he's going 
to act, and Fudge is going to regret sacking him. Big talk... No 
action... Do we hear of *anything* DD did after disappearing ? I'm 
sure Hermione would have kept everyone informed if she had read 
anything about him in the Daily Prophet. Or maybe they would have 
been told things by Sirius, or McGonagall. But in effect it seems 
that DD disappeared after being sacked and that he reappeared only in 
the MoM, nothing in between...
