My reply:
Dumbledore stated that Fawkes had given the feathers, now it sounds 
to me that Fawkes gave them as a gift, plucked them himself so to 
speak, Then would it not be Fawkes' choice to give another feather. 
DD doesn't treat Fawkes like a pet, he treats him like family, like 
we all do with our pets. So I don't think Dumbledore would pluck 
tail feathers from Fawkes, and besides that Fawkes has been giving 
feathers to lots of people here lately when he has to deliver a 
message he leaves a feather with it. Right? Lori
