I disagree. Ron's anger towards Hermione was simple jealousy.
Jealously, firstly, because he did not go to the ball with Hermione --
I don't think his secondary decision to ask Hermione was really all that
secondary in his mind. Next, because she did go with Krum. I felt as
if the gaze he gave her were that of "out of all the people to go with
besides me, why did she pick Krum!?" You can see that in his little
snide comments such as asking Hermione if Krum asked her in the library.
Foolish? Yes, I'll agree. Pride? No. I think this really boils down
to a simple teenage crush.

Then why do you think Ron is in Gryffindor? Gryffindor is supposed to be
for people of bravery. I do agree that we see a rather "wimpy" side of
Ron, but I honestly think we are underestimating him a bit. It would
have been very easy for Ron, after the first year at Hogwarts, to say
that Harry was a little too "dangerous" and cut his ties with him.
However, he has stood by him (aside from the obvious fights that *all*
best friends have) and I think it does show strength of character. I
honestly think that we will soon see the best of Ron, the reason he is
in Gryffindor, shortly.

Oh BTW, I'm new here: 25, mom, student--hoping to get my PhD. in
Chemistry. I live in Northern Arizona, would love for another "zonie"
to drop me a line. The only other person in Arizona I know who loves HP
is my husband! LOL
