I honestly think that we will soon see the best of Ron, the reason
he is in Gryffindor, shortly.
Talisman responds:
Heavens, we've already seen plenty of instances of Ron's bravery.
Not the least of which are, his playing the sacrificial knight to
allow Harry to achieve the philosopher's stone (SS 283) and his
efforts (though wounded)to protect Harry from Sirius in the
Shrieking Shack "If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us
too!" (PoA 339).
He's also got plenty of chips on his shoulder and confidence
problems. Just as we've been discussing in the current Percy thread,
beginning with arrowsmithbt's #60490, all of the characters are
multifaceted. It is their complexity that makes the stories
interesting. And, although I'll reiterate the old (deep in the
archives) observation that bad results sometimes come from good
deeds (and vice versa) there is no doubt that each character's
weaknesses open the door to serving Voldemort's ends, albeit
unwittingly.
Yours in contemplating the effects of human shortcomings,
The original Talisman, who does not live in Arizona.
