Riddle and Voldemort (WAS: Death in book V)

This got me thinking - do people think that there is any connection 
between Riddle the memory and Voldemort? Memory!Riddle seems to 
operate as an independant individual, and yet, he's less than even 
the ghost of a person. Is it at all possible that Voldemort knows 
what happened in the Chamber of Secrets? Could this be the way in 
which CoS is pivotal - Riddle has accidentally disclosed something 
to Harry which may lead to Voldemort's defeat?
Oh darn it. I'm going to re-read that scene for the third time this 
month.
