I've read a bunch of people posting this theory since I've joined. I
respectfully, disagree. I'm at work so I don't have my books, but my
sole reason is this.
In PS/SS when HRH go in search of the stone DD takes off for London.
He later tells Harry that he got all the way to London before he
decided to turn around and come back to the school. He also tells
Harry that he arrived just in time to save him.
IMHO, If DD were Ron, DD would know how close it was for Harry and
never would have gone all the way to London. Ron wouldn't put Harry
in that much danger.
Okay, just my thoughts.
