Well, that might be part of it.  But I'm guessing it was his worst 
memory because he rejected Lily's help.  All the various 
humiliations didn't help, but surely the worst would be endless 
speculation about how things might have been different if he had 
accepted her olive branch?

In which case, of course, his reaction to Harry contains an element 
of misdirection, as he puts the focus of his rage on James.
