I have wondered about how many and how often a wizard would change
wands. When Harry first buys his wand, Ollivander say he can remember
when his parents "bought their FIRST wands". That along with Ron using
Charlie's old wand leads us to believe that people go through more than one
wand --either they go into work requiring a specialized one or the wands no
longer suit them or the wands lose their effectiveness-- (the Weasleys are
poor so they would have to scrape by and pass on a dying wand to a younger
kid. Charlie may have needed a new wand if he was working with dragons.)

But--what about Voldemort? How long has he had his wand? (without going
intot he whole issue of who had his wand for the 12 years he drifted as vapor
and stuff)

How long do wands last? Does that vary?
