Yes, this was kept for the American version, imagine how confused WE
were when we read it! But now that I know that it is a greeting,
(which is what we figured it was anyways) I imagine it is something
similar to our "whatcha" like
"whatcha doin'?" (...what are you...) I am glad we were not the only
confused ones.
I am also in deep mourning for Sirius. I boo-hooed big time. Well,
after I went and found a second book. You see, my first copy was
MISSING 50 PAGES!!! 50 pages out of the final 80, no less! It
stopped mid-sentence on the bottom of 786, when Malfoy was about to
spill Voldemort's plan to Harry and the crew and Bellatrix was
cackling, went back to 739 and repeated the pages until 786, then the
next page was 835!!! The big fight in the Department of Mysteries
was missing, so was Sirius's death (which I could have done without
anyways...), Voldemort and Dumbledore's big fight, and the first part
of the chapter where Dumbledore explains it all! Needless to say,
after reading since 12:15 Friday nite, and only getting like 10 hours
of sleep all weekend up until then, when I got to that part, I
actually screamed! And whimpered and whined and called the bookstore
and wanted blood and they actually said I could wait til more come in
later this week, because all their stores in town (they have 6) were
sold out. YEAH, RIGHT! I have been waiting til I got back to work
and my computer today so I could tell people who would truly
appreciate my plight, and not giggle maniacally like my husband.
