I know people are keen to attack Cho's character and she has become
disliked in some quarters but does anyone think that Harry's
behaviour towards her was pretty insensitive and sometimes, downright
ignorant?

If we see things from Cho's POV, during the Valentine's Day date (the
most romantic, to most people, day of the year) when she wants to
spend time with Harry after they kissed, Harry says this "yeah, well,
she asked me to so I thought I would...D'you want to come with me?
She said it wouldn't matter if you did?" I think that that was an an
extremely stupid, inconsiderate, insensitive thing to say...I know
Harry didn't set out to upset her but he didn't THINK before he said
it...The language says it all in this...

"yeah, well, she asked me to go so I thought I would" which suggests
that its

A trivial, as if he's just going to meet her for a drink and nothing
else

B suggesting that he would rather be with Hermione than Cho, "so I
thought I would"...

and

C as if he'd drop everything for Hermione...

"she said it wouldn't matter if you did" suggests that

A He didn't say "because I want you to come" but only because
Hermione says that its Ok...Only because Hermione wants you there,
you can come, is what this suggests to me...

B "Wouldn't matter" suggests that Cho's not important...

C Harry does not once offer to stay with Cho for Valentine's Day...

I know he doesn't mean to hurt her with that but I can see why she is
hurt...If a girl said to me that she was going to meet another guy on
Valentine's Day, I know that I'd be hurt and offended...

I think that made Cho jealous, hence she mentions Roger Davies and
then Cedric, then got very caught up in it and Harry's reaction to
her and Cedric was insensitive, rather than suggest they talk about
it somewhere else, he closes off the subject and laughs...From Cho's
POV that makes Harry seem very insensitive...

And when they argued about Marietta, Harry might be loyal to his
friends but did he ever think that Cho might be just as loyal to her
friends? Its Ok for him to slander Cho's friend but not for her to
say anything about Hermione...And Hermione's punishment was cruel,
there is no doubting that...If that happened to a friend of mine, I
wouldn't be happy with Hermione...Then Harry insulting Cho about her
crying was childish and petty and saying "he's got better things to
worry about" can't have made Cho feel good...

However, I think the relationship still has potential and think they
are quite well suited...I don't take the ending, where Harry thinks
that Cho is distant, as that he doesn't like her...I think that he is
saddened that he can't feel at the moment as he is still in the
grieving process about Sirius...People take his failure to register
as a fact that he won't be in a relationship with Cho and tend to
forget that he is still in shock and still in the grieving process
for Sirius and probably will be for some months...Cho seemed to still
like him at the end with her blushing...I think they can, at least,
be friends if not romantically involved once Harry gets himself
together...Who knows, maybe she can help him through?

Thoughts?
