Cindy:

This was obvious at the end of ootp, when he encounters Snape in
the Great Hall. He'll never forgive him for what exactly? For saving
his life?

Me:

Show me where Snape has saved Harry's life once. The closest he came
was in PS/SS, and it was Hermione who ultimately stopped Quirrell.
Snape did hold Quirrell off, but Hermione made the save.

In CoS, he didn't come close.

In PoA, he actually muddled in where he didn't understand and caused
more problems for Harry. And it was Sirius who pulled Lupin!Wolf away
from the Trio (and Snape, by the way, when Snape was out cold.) And
Harry arguably saved Snape from the dementors by conjuring Prongs.

In GoF, nowhere close.

In OoP, he did give Umbridge the fake Veritaserum, although Harry
knew enough not to drink, didn't he?

And yes, Snape thought Occlumency was so important that he stopped
teaching Harry -- and if Lupin and Dumbledore actually did confront
Snape, STILL refused to teach Harry.

Dumbledore says, pg. 833, that Snape couldn't teach Harry because he
hated James too much.

So... the fate of the kid who can destroy the Dark Lord is at stake,
not to mention the location of the Order AND Snape's own safety, but
hey, James made Snape do cartwheels and show his undies, so screw all
that.

Yes, indeed, Harry should get on bended knee.

I don't mean to make light of Snape's pain. James was inexusably
wrong and Harry was wrong to dive into the Pensieve. BUT... if Snape
truly is this noble (even Gollum-like character, one poster said)
then he should be able to choke it down, especially since it happened
20 years ago.

>I don't need to say what would have happend to Snape.

I'm thinking an Obliviate might have happened to Draco. Snape is
hardly defenseless.

I also think, for the record, that Harry is blinded by grief when it
comes to Snape, and he will eventually get over it.

> I think that Harry has already started falling a bit, and I think
that Dumbledore senses this, which is why he wouldn't let him leave
his office untill he had a long talk with him. I think Dumbledore is

is trying to talk to him more, and make him understand what he is
> feeling. Hopefully, Harry will grow up fast, because he needs to if
> he's going to survive. Just a couple of my thoughts on Harry & the
Dark Side...

OK, Harry gets cranky because he's left out, treated like a helpless
child even though he's faced V-Mort three times by OoP and escaped
from a flock of DEs AND he watches his godfather die and blames
himself and he's heading to the dark side?

He's hurting. He's got a temper. I think we can hold off on Harry
James Potter turning into Ham Top Star, Jerry! (See, Harry can't make
Lord or Baron or Sir or King out of his name, so he's OK)

Darrin
-- Ham Top Star? Oh yeah, band name.
