Jens says regarding Lipin and Blacks comments on The Infamous Pensive Scene:

>Harry told Lupin and Black what he saw and they did not say anything like
>"But it didn't happen like that!". The immidiatly started making excuses,
>and I would tend to think that if they had a reason for what they did, or if

>it had not been _that_ bad, they would have said so. But no. The first
>excuse out of Blacks mouth is "He was only fifteen".

Excuse or explanation?
Did he ask for it to be excused? He said they were fifteen by way of
explanation (and some 15 yeard old boys though of course not all, are truly horrible
creatures for a while) but then also admitted they were arrogant little berks
and that he wasn't proud of that.
Again, I chose to believe he mean that, others may not.

Perhaps Remus and Sirius chose to be adult enough to take some responsibility
for the mistakes they made as boys rather than try to argue down or mitgate
their and James' actions. What would the reposnse have been if they -had- tried
to say "It didn't happen like that!" Would they have been trying to weasel
out of admitting what they'd done. Would they have been denying resposiblity for
having been pretty reprehensible at times? Would they have been just lying to
protect Harry's image of his father?
I tend to think that nothing they would have done would have been right in
some folks eyes after reading that pensive scene.
