Me:
I don't think there is any distinction between the uniforms of the
houses.
1) All the students buy basic black robes in first year, and their is
no mention of adding a patch or marker. COnsidering how happy Harry
was to be in Gryffindor he probably would have mentioned it.
2) Even more telling is that in CoS, Polyjuiced Harry and Ron ask
Penelope Clearwater, a Ravenclaw, how to get to 'their' (Slytherin)
common room. They may be a bit dense around girls, but you'd think
they'd notice the blue 'R' patch on her robes.
