Two things:

1. If Voldy was focused on the prophesy then it gave the OoTP more
time to strategize and plan for their resistance. And according to
DD, LV thought there was much more to the prophesy(as he had
inadvertently caused his own demise the last time by not knowing the
whole thing) which made the prophesy something LV believed he would
need on his rise back to power.

2. Since the prophesy could only be taken off the shelf by Harry or
LV, then the OoTP couldn't do anything about removing or destroying
it. Especially in light of the fact that they couldn't get Harry to
do it (they were keeping him in the dark) and they didn't want LV to
have it - so who could have moved it?

But, this is in contrast to what DD says is his greatest fault which
is that he wanted Harry to have safe existence despite the danger
posed to others. Because by allowing LV to fixate on the prophesy he
put Harry in danger for the sake of allowing the OoTP to get ready
for the next war.
