I am intrigued by the different (i.e., wildly diverergent)
interpretations--generally these are quite overwrought, IMO--various
people have given to JKR's treatment of government/politics in OOP.
FWIW, her is my take: I think the Fudge Ministry strongly resembles
the government of Neville Chamberlain, in that it is purposefully
blind to the gathering storm that is about to unleash itself. By
ignoring the obvious (and in the case of La Umbridge seated herself
at Hogwarts, trying to squelch it) it speeds what it is adamantly
trying to deny.

In a sense all of this will as relevant in 2050 as the specific
objects of satire were in, say, HMS Pinafore or The Mikado.

Just my two knuts,

-Joe in SoFla

P.S. I would humbly *suggest* all and sundry refrain from making
overtly political statements here, because invariably such commentary
eventually leads to (at worst) acrimony or (at best) resentment. This
is not a demand, mind you, but merely a polite request.
