That's entirely possible, but Hermione, after Harry and Ron and now
Ginny, doesn't have a lot of friends. She's not part of the girly-
girl clique Lavender and Parvati have and not part of the Sporty
girls on the Quidditch team.
I wonder where Snape's Slyth buddies were during the Penseive scene.
Even if they didn't like the guy all that much, at some point, House
honor should dictate helping the guy out And if the Slyth code
doesn't include helping each other, here was a chance to attack James
and Sirius and honestly and credibly tell a teacher they were
defending Snape.
Unless Snape wasn't a Slyth...
The problem is, while I agree Snape is probably a smart guy and did
well, he clearly wasn't top in the year. James and Sirius both seem
to outdistance him pretty easily. Hermione is clearly top in the
class, which engenders a certain respect, even from people who
consider her a bookworm know-it-all.
